Contact Exhibition

I'm delighted to be exhibiting with the Contemporary British Portrait Painters again in a new exhibition at Cass Art Islington.

My portrait, Pae Yun Sok, was selected for the BP Portrait Award last year but, because of lockdown, was never exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery. Now it will be on display in the capital for the first time in 'Contact' from 2nd to 29th August.

“Recent events have forced us to scrutinize every aspect of our personal contact with other humans, in a way no other generation in living memory has experienced. The Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP) collective return to Cass Art Islington with a body of work celebrating the human proximity, interaction and face to face examinations which are the very oxygen of portraiture. Many of the featured pieces were originally selected for the BP Award at the National Portrait Gallery last year but could not be exhibited in the flesh at the time. The CBPP show aims to give a platform for these and other works, created before and during the various lockdowns. Online shows have been vital for artists in recent months, but they can never be a substitute for direct contact with the original artworks.”
